Alby presents new Lightning Node - Alby Hub

The software development company Alby is pursuing the goal of making Bitcoin the native currency of the internet. To this end, Alby is developing user-friendly and interoperable solutions for Bitcoin users and developers. The company has now launched a new open source product: the Alby Hub - a new type of lightning node designed for beginners.

With Alby Hub, the company wants to change the way Lightning is used and make it more user-friendly. It is designed to make it easier for users to self-manage the Lightning Network and become a more empowered part of the network.

At Alby, we've always focused on building tools and protocols to use the Lightning Network natively on the web, like the Alby Extension, which has changed the way Lightning is used in web browsers. Now, with Alby Hub, we're taking Lightning Network self-custody to the next level by rethinking the utility behind running a Lightning Node. What does a node and wallet that can be integrated into any Bitcoin-based app with just a few clicks look like? With Alby Hub, users now have endless possibilities for self-managed payments online, without the technical hassle.

In addition to a Lightning Node, Alby Hub offers a self-managed wallet and an app store. With just a few clicks, the new lightning node can be installed and connected to various social media apps such as Damus, podcasting apps and external lightning wallets. Simple channel management is possible thanks to the integration of Lightning Service Providers (LSP), as is the recharging of cards.

Alby Hub can either be operated free of charge on your own server, desktop or RasperryPi Zero or used in the Alby Cloud for a fee of 21,000 Satoshi per month, which includes live support for channel management and access to the Alby Buzz community. Users of the Alby Web Wallet can easily transfer their balance to the Alby Hub Node. Those interested in operating their own node on Alby Hub can now register for the Alby Hubwaiting list.
