The open source Bitcoin mining project BitAxe from skot has greatly enriched solo and home mining. New models are constantly appearing that increasingly increase the efficiency and hash performance of the Bitcoin network, arouse the curiosity of those interested in the mining process and promote the decentralized nature of Bitcoin mining.

Although the probability of finding a block with the BitAxe miners is extremely low, the first block found by a BitAxe miner has proven that it is not zero. This has further increased interest in the BitAxe project.

Recently, the latest model of the BitAxe series and revolutionary accessories were presented.

bitaxeGamma

BitAxe initiator skot, funded by OpenSats, presented the new BitAxe model bitaxeGamma at the beginning of this week. The bitaxeGamma uses the BM1370 mining chip from the Antminer S21 Pro, which makes it more efficient and powerful than its predecessor, the Bitaxe 401 Supra. With only 17 watts, the bitaxeGamma can achieve a hash rate of up to 1.2 terahash per second (TH/s) and thus has an efficiency of 15 joules per terahash (J/TH).

ImmergeAxe

The hash performance and efficiency of the new bitaxeGamma can be further increased with additional gadgets. Developer MolonLabe has designed a modern immersion cooling system called ImmergeAxe especially for the BitAxe models. He developed the prototype in November 2023, and now the first ten production models are available for sale in very limited numbers on the SoloSatoshi platform.

ImmergeAxe is a fully enclosed immersion cooling system that is built to last thanks to its robust and high-quality components. The BitAxe miner is operated in a dielectric fluid, such as a special oil or synthetic fluid, to dissipate the heat.

The cooling system not only significantly reduces the operating temperature, it also insulates the BitAxe miner from dust and other environmental influences. This can extend the service life of the miner and reduce maintenance requirements, and also enables easy overclocking of the performance and thus an increase in hash rate and efficiency. The BitAxe Ultra, which operates at 425 gigahash per second (GH/s) as standard, could already be overclocked to 1.2 TH/s in the ImmergeAxe cooling system, which corresponds to the standard performance of the bitaxeGamma or almost twice the performance of the BitAxe Supra.

Eliminating traditional air cooling also means minimizing energy waste, so the home mining process with the ImmergeAxe not only increases performance, but is also more environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

Due to the lack of traditional air cooling, the operating volume is also significantly quieter or "virtually silent", according to the article description. This means that the system can also be installed as a decorative element in all living and working areas.

This system represents a shift towards more sustainable and efficient mining practices and uses the advantages of liquid immersion cooling to optimize Bitcoin mining operations.

SolarBit

Another MolonLabe project is SolarBit - a groundbreaking accessory for BitAxe miners that is designed for automated, free, environmentally friendly and independent operation of the miner using solar power. Measuring approximately 56 x 30 x 37.5 cm, the structure consists of a movable solar panel, a protected storage area for the BitAxe miner and four feet for easy positioning.

SolarBit has an autonomous solar tracking system that always sets the best position for perfect sunlight exposure. The system switches off automatically at night.
The maximum input power for the solar power is 30 watts, which is used to operate the BitAxe and charge a 12-volt lithium battery (6-8 Ah) required for operation.

The system is water and UV-resistant and has a temperature sensor for overheating protection and a rain sensor that activates the conversion of the solar panel into an umbrella for the BitAxe.

SolarBit is expected to be available from November 2024. MolonLabe also plans to publish the hardware list and 3D print files in due course to promote further solar-powered open source Bitcoin mining projects.
