Bitcoin mining technology is changing at a rapid pace in order to, among other things, defy the regular halving events, in which the number of newly issued Bitcoin halves every four years, and to maintain or increase profitability.

The leading manufacturer of mining hardware Bitmain presented new Antminer models at the World Digital Mining Summit in Las Vegas: the air-cooled S21 XP, the water-cooled S21 XP Hydro and the immersion-cooled S21 XP IMM in two variants. All models are characterized above all by their unrivalled efficiency.

Antminer S21 XP

The air-cooled Antminer S21 XP offers a hash rate of 270 terahashes per second (TH/s) with a power consumption of 3645 watts. This gives the S21 XP an efficiency of 13.5 joules per terahash (J/T). Taking into account the current hash price of USD 0.0524 per TH/s per day and an electricity price of USD 0.04 per kilowatt hour (kWh), the expected daily profit that can be generated with the S21 XP is USD 10.84.

Antminer S21 XP Hydro

As usual, the water-cooled model outperforms the air-cooled model in terms of performance and efficiency. The Antminer S21 XP Hydro delivers a hashrate of 473 TH/s with a power consumption of 5676 watts. The efficiency is no less than 12 J/T and the expected profit per day is also impressive at 21.48 US dollars. This makes the Antminer S21 XP Hydro the most efficient mining device on the market to date.
A price of 21.50 US dollars per TH/s has already been announced for the S21 XP Hydro, resulting in a total of 10,169.50 US dollars.

The S21 XP Hydro could also be seen in action at the World Digital Mining Summit in a special rack, the so-called ANTRACK. Four S21 XP Hydro with a total hashrate of almost 1900 TH/s fit into this rack(source of the video: @MrTechHustler).

Bitmain also presented presented new variants of containers in which the miners can be integrated.

Antminer S21 XP IMM

In addition to the air- and water-cooled models, Bitmain also presented two models specially designed for immersion cooling. This involves immersing the mining hardware in thermally conductive dielectric fluid. Bitmain presented a "normal-mode variant" with 300 TH/s at 4050 watts and a corresponding efficiency of 13.5 J/T and a "high-mode variant" with 380 TH/s at 5700 watts and an efficiency of 15 J/T.

Another new feature of all models in the S21-XP series will be a small screen on which, for example, the current hash rate can be read. All models will be delivered from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Conclusion

Bitmain's new S21-XP series ASIC miner models set new standards in performance and efficiency. The air-, water- and immersion-cooled models are characterized by an improved hashrate of up to 473 TH/s and reduced energy consumption per terahash, while profitability has been increased. With an efficiency of less than 14 J/T, the series comprises the most efficient miner models currently available on the market. It remains to be seen when the competition will follow suit.
