Craig Wright, the man who claims to be Bitcoin inventor Satoshi Nakamoto, has dropped his appeal in the Norwegian court case against Hodlonaut. This means that the verdict, which already went in Hodlonaut's favor in October 2022, is now sealed. The Norwegian, who is supported by the Bitcoin community, made this welcome news public on 𝕏

I just got off the phone with my Norwegian lawyer.

CRAIG WRIGHT HAS DROPPED THE APPEAL IN NORWAY!

My 2022 victory is now final and enforceable.

This case started on May 19, 2019 and lasted until today.

I am very happy!

Now I just need to get the case dismissed/won in the UK and then I can finally move on.

LET'S GO! 🧡

The announcement was met with congratulations from the entire Bitcoin community - including Cypherpunk Adam Back, Strike CEO Jack Mallers and Bloomberg ETF expert James Seyffart.

The case of Craig Wright v. Hodlonaut

Craig Wright, also mockingly known as "Faketoshi", sued the Bitcoiner, who was only known by his pseudonym, for defamation in the UK. Hodlonaut publicly described Wright as a liar and fraudster on 𝕏 in the context of his claim to be the inventor of Bitcoin. In response, Hodlonat himself then filed a lawsuit against Wright in Norway, demanding a declaratory judgment that his tweets were lawful, truthful and covered by freedom of expression. Hodlonaut also wanted to prevent Wright from pursuing his libel action in the UK, where the laws are strongly in favor of the plaintiff and damages can be very high. Blocktrainer.de reported in detail on the background to the legal dispute.

Craig Wright's decision to abandon the appeal comes around a month after a British judge was certain that Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto in another legal dispute with the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) - Blocktrainer.de reported.

In the Norwegian court, Hodlonaut has now finally won the dispute, which lasted almost five years. The Norwegian judge ruled in Hodlonaut's favor during the trial at the end of 2022, as there was sufficient evidence to support his claims.

Faketoshi has often been convicted of lying in court in his attempts to prove that he is the inventor of Bitcoin. However, the final verdict in Craig Wright's lawsuit against Holdonaut in the UK is still pending. Blocktrainer.de is keeping its fingers crossed for Hodlonaut that he can convince the court of the obvious in this case too.
